I just got back from a camping/TV shoot in Everglades National Park. Here are a few photos of our campsite on New Turkey Key.

I’m producing Florida Sportsman magazine’s TV show this year. The destination themed fishing show will be a thirteen episode series which will start airing in the last week of December. Our workflow on the project is encumbered by a one week turnaround time from shoot to final edit on each episode. I have enlisted my friend and graphics guy extraordinaire Doug Sapusek from Magnetic Media Works to help me out with graphics. You will see FSTV air nationally on the Sportsman Channel and in Florida on the Fox Sports affiliate Sun Sports. Below is a screen grab of the first episode via Final Cut Pro.

I don’t talk much about gear on here but I am excited to get my hands on this little guy. About twelve years ago high definition video was the coolest new thing. Today we have cameras that are capable of five times the resolution of good old 1080p HD; all while rivaling the best still cameras on the market with 14 megapixel raw stills. There is a lot going on in that little box called Scarlet-X. I am hoping for delivery from RED in about a month.

The following is taken from the RED website.

With the innate ability to capture 5K REDCODE RAW stills and 4K motion, resolution sustains itself as a dominant gene in the RED family. Scarlet-X functions as a flexible device, utilizing HDRx and interchangeable lens mounts to provide you with options in a world that’s always changing. 5K burst modes snap up to 12 fps with 4K reaching up to 30 fps—helping you capture every perfect moment. All of the finest qualities of cinema and photography have now aligned, letting you take advantage of the best of both worlds with Scarlet-X.

This is an afternoon thunderstorm that chased us off the water recently. The first shot is near Midnight Pass and the second shot is just south of the Blackburn Bridge in Osprey.

There is nothing better than crappy little gulf coast waves at North Jetty. I had a creative itch this morning and decided to capture the moment. Enjoy.
